Summary: Users of the NowGo app have a few options available when they reach the end of their shift with items they haven't delivered. Read on to find out more.

Finishing a shift with undelivered jobs

When you can’t deliver everything onboard before the end of your shift, there are a few options. You can:

  1. Offboard all items onboard to a depot

  2. Offboard all items onboard to a specific registered location, other than a depot

  3. Automatically carry over work to the next shift. This is a new feature in NowGo and we will go into further detail about how this works in this article.

Carrying over work to the next shift

When work is carried over to the next shift, it will stay in the same sequence as the previous shift.

Shift carry-over happens at shift creation. When a shift is created with a driver assigned, any stops that are assigned to the driver are moved to the new shift as long as:

  • The previous shift started in the last 14 days.

  • The previous shift ended before the current time.

  • The previous shift has the carry work over option enabled.

Carried over stops will have the same time window, but will be scheduled for after the start of the created shift.

Any target articles of carried over stops will be moved from the onboard register of the previous shift (if present) on to the onboard register of the created shift.

You can also set the carry over work option in a shift template.

Possible use case

One use case where this feature is useful is where drivers pack their vehicles in the sequence generated by the solver. On days that they can’t deliver all packages, the workflow items carry over into the next shift. This allows drivers to leave their vehicles packed in the same order and saves them time on sorting and loading their vehicle.

This carry over work feature may not be available to you depending on your organization’s configuration. If you have further questions about this feature, please contact [email protected]
